ASR Mastery: Scoping & Proofing
Master the skills required to scope effectively on any platform. This course demonstrates how ASR can increase a transcriptionist’s productivity. Students will learn how to navigate and overcome the challenges of scoping ASR-produced first drafts. Scoping is the act of editing the first draft (i.e., a rough transcript) against the audio captured during a legal proceeding.
This course will prepare you with best practices for scoping ASR-produced drafts to more easily catch errors and produce accurate transcripts. This course does not provide training for software or equipment. This course does NOT cover the federal formatting required for AAERT certification. Students will use general formatting rules when creating transcripts for depositions, court, and other legal proceedings. These general rules can be applied when transcribing the majority of state cases.
Equipment Suggestions: A foot pedal (e.g., Infinity) compatible with your audio player and transcription headphones.
Pre-Requisites: This course is intended for students who have experience working as a legal transcriptionist or who have already taken the following courses: • Transcription English, Grammar, and Punctuation • Deposition Fundamentals OR Legal Transcription
